Prevention of Occupational Risks in the cultivation of Pitahaya, Manabí, Ecuador

Abstract

The research was conducted at the Rodríguez & Asociados Pitakawsay CIA.LTDA Agricultural Company with the objective of assessing occupational hazards that affect workers who cultivate the Pitahaya and propose a prevention plan that guarantees the safety and health of workers. The methodology used in the investigation considered the stages: characterization of the productive system, identification and evaluation of risks and the proposal of the prevention plan. The main tools and / or methods were: direct observation, documentary analysis, field work, descriptive analysis, checklist to identify risks, the risk assessment method of the National Institute of Health and Safety, cause - consequence matrix of risks. It was concluded that workers in the agricultural sector specifically in the cultivation of Pitahaya are exposed to a set of occupational hazards that affect their safety, health and well-being at work, and those proposed by the company's administrators must be considered.
