Abstract

The fourth Industrial Revolution refers to a new paradigm based on technology, where information and
communication systems are largely used to improve productivity in an intelligent way. The objective of
this article was to analyze the teaching competencies necessary for the effective integration of the Internet
of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of Industry 4.0 in the Faculty of Computer
Science of the Technical University of Manabí. This research presents a quantitative approach, because the
survey technique was used through the application of an online questionnaire directed to a total population
of 63 teachers currently working in the Faculty of Computer Science. In addition, the bibliographic method
was integrated with a non-experimental design. The results showed that 45% of teachers do not have a very
broad knowledge of IoT and AI. Based on these results, a pedagogical proposal is presented for the training
of teachers with a view to improving their skills in areas such as IoT and AI.
