Abstract

Mental load is the cognitive effort that a person must make to cope with a certain number and type of tasks. The general objective of this research is to carry out a study of the mental workload of operations coordinators at an airport in the province of Matanzas, Cuba. The study is carried out before the start of the working day and at the end of it, where a procedure is designed which consists of four stages. Psychophysiological and psychological indicators are used to assess cognitive abilities; ESCAM is used to evaluate the workplace, the use of the Knowledge Work Intensity method as a diagnostic tool and ISTAS-21 to assess psychosocial risks. As a result, it was obtained that all the workers presented at least one indicator of expected behavior in the presence of mental load and of them four of the workers presented variations of three indicators.
