Abstract

The correct management of product identification is crucial for the development of companies within supply chains. In Cuba, there are problems related to identification and standardization with a focus on traceability. In this regard, this research aims to design an evaluation tool for the product identification system in Cuban companies, based on good practices. For this purpose, theoretical methods such as documentary theoretical analysis and analysis-synthesis were employed for the identification of good practices. As the main result, a procedure for applying the evaluation tool is obtained, consisting of 11 steps distributed across 4 stages, with 5 evaluation perspectives: traceability, standardization, information support, classification, and staff training. This procedure is capable of detecting problems related to these aspects, grouping them into an integrative indicator, with a defined evaluation scale.
