Procedure for the calculation of the Academic Talent Index within the university context

Abstract

The accurate identification of academic talent in the university context through the effective use of multidimensional metrics is critically important for its subsequent educational support. This article proposes a procedure for calculating the Academic Talent Index (PITA) by adapting existing models within the university setting. The methodological procedure consists of seven steps: defining dimensions and indicators, data collection, min–max normalization, weight assignment via AHP, sub-index aggregation, psychometric validation, and continuous calibration. PITA overcomes the limitations of conventional metrics by integrating soft and digital skills, offering universities an objective and adaptable tool for identifying, stimulating, developing, and monitoring and evaluating academic talent.
