Focus and Scope

The journal publishes original papers about scientific and technological research related to: work and production organization, ergonomics, safety and occupational health, management, quality, industrial statistics, operational research, logistics, human resources management, knowledge management, and business informatics. Furthermore, it includes papers regarding artificial intelligence and other applications, as well as factory projects.

Industrial Engineering journal publishes the following documents:

• Editorial. Document written by the editor, a member of the Editorial Committee or a guest researcher for the content present in the journal and an impact event or activity of national or international significance, in the date that is published the journal issue.

• Articles of scientific and technological research. These documents present, in detail, the original results of research projects completed.

Peer Review Process

For the selection of the works to be published, the Editorial Committee evaluates the articles sent according to the correspondence with the declared topics of interest, the originality and novelty, the quality of the content and structure, the relevance and reference´s relevance and in general, compliance with the publication standards established by the journal. If an article does not meet these requirements, it can be rejected or returned to the authors for rewriting. Only those jobs that meet these requirements are accepted to pass the review process.

The Industrial Engineering Journal has established a review policy by academic peers, under the double blind modality. This means that once an article is received the editorial committee selects a couple of reviewers who anonymously and desinterstedly evaluated its scientific quality according to a criteria.

The evaluators are peers both  in knowledge of the subject, as well as in the degrees, level of studies, recognition and academic prestige of the author subject to evaluation.

The journal has a committe of 75 professionals from different specialities of Industrial Engineering, with more than 60% coming form institutions outside CUJAE, both national and intenational.

The recommendation resulting from this academic opinion may consist of:

  • Accept Submission: Accepted for publication in its original form.
  • Publishable with modifications: Accepted with editorial and style modifications.
  • Reassessable: Conditional on the author making changes to the content that must be re-analyzed by the reviewer.
  • Not publishable.

The main reasons that will lead to the rejection of an article by the reviewers are referred to: the lack scientific novelty, the unreliability of the methods and procedures used, as well as the low quality and poor updating of the bibliographic references.

In the event that there is disagreement between the tow designated reviewers, a third referee will be used, whose decision will define, together with the editorial commitee, whether or not the article is published. The results of this process are unapealable and at all times, the editorial committe, as well as the experts who review the manuscripts, ensure that they maintain special care with the established ethical standards and avoid conflicts of interest.

The review process lasts for several month. Since the time the reviewer takes to review the work is added to the time requuired by the authors to make the suggested changes. The latter have a dead line of one month ( counted form the date on which the results of each evaluation are sent), for the delivery of the corrected version of their article according to the recommendations of the referees.

Before completing the editing process of an article selected for publication, it will be sent to the authors so that they can review the correction changes made and communicate their agreement with them.

Once your article is published, you wil be notified electronically.
